[REVIEW] Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

The sixth instalment of the horror video game adaptation, Resident Evil, came to our theatres on the 2nd of February. Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, the final Resident Evil movie is about Alice (Milla Jovovich) trying to take down her former employer, the evil Umbrella Corp whom created the zombie virus, by using the antivirus to stop the zombie apocalypse.

This final instalment does not provide anything new to the table, although it’s ideal for those who love jump scares and sci-fi action, or people who have followed this franchise closely and want to see the resolution. The movie wasn’t totally all mindless action – it had its moments that left you feeling somewhat interested. However, it’s a movie that you can just enjoy the choreography and leave your mind at the door, which is nice once in a while.

The main let down was the dialogue, but then again, if you’re watching an action flick you won’t be paying attention to any dialogue.

The Final Chapter does have a video game feel but becomes predictable with zombie fight scenes rolling out one after the other, in addition to a cliché story line, providing no real content to keep the audience invested in Alice or her purpose.

For people that feel like switching off their brains and want to be jump scared every minute with the appropriate sound affects, then they might enjoy this film.
