The MINDS Film Festival will be back for its 4th edition next year (2020)! Organised by MINDS and Singapore Film Society (SFS) MINDSFF2020 is proud to present a 5-day festival that will invite the audience to step into the shoes of the intellectually disabled, fostering a greater sense of understanding within the community.
Opening the film festival on 15 January 2019 is The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019), winner of the Audience Award for Narrative Spotlight in SXSW Film Festival 2019. The Peanut Butter Falcon tells the story of Zak (Zack Gottsagen), a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending a professional wrestling school. This is the first time the film will be opening in Singapore to commercial release on 17 January 2020.
Working with various cultural embassies in Singapore, the 4th MINDS Film Festival will also feature a total of six films from all over the world, ranging from an Italian drama to a Korean crime-mystery. The lineup includes two Asian Premieres and two Singapore Premieres.
MINDS Film Festival screenings will be free for people with a Developmental Disability Registry Identity (DDR-ID) card! DDR-ID card holders will also be able to bring up to two caregivers with them, who will enjoy 50% off the usual ticket price.
