After being closed for seven months, Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) is planning to be one of the first theatres (if not THE first) to re-open for live performances with Tuesdays with Morrie in November.
Based on Mitch Albom’s best-selling memoir, Tuesdays with Morrie is a beautiful and moving tale ideally suited for this time of uncertainty and social distancing. Written by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie takes the audience on an intimate journey, revealing the deep personal bond between mentor and student as they explore themes of love, acceptance and death, but most importantly, it talks about how to enjoy life.
The role of Morrie will be performed by theatre veteran Remesh Panicker (Art, Romeo
& Juliet, Merchant of Venice) while Benjamin Chow (Romeo & Juliet, The LKY Musical)
will perform the role of Mitch. Directed by Samantha Scott-Blackhall.
Dates: Previews 1st November 2020. Premiere 4th November 2020
Prices: From $50
Venue: KC Arts Centre – Home of SRT
Live performances are not yet allowed, but there is a pilot programme led by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth/ National Arts Council to test safe management measures at live performances that is currently ongoing until mid-October. The current seating configuration has been done for 50 people, socially distanced. This number may be adjusted upwards subject to the safety guidelines issued by the government in November.
