The Yellow Ribbon Community Art Exhibition (YR CAE) will be taking place from 22 to 30 September 2018. Guest of Honour President Halimah Yacob will be speaking at the 11th YR CAE, an annual exhibition introduced in 2007 as a meaningful platform for inmates to express their hopes, dreams and aspirations through contemporary artworks. YR CAE aims to enable inmates to showcase their artistic talents to the larger community, and to build closer ties among inmates, ex-offenders and the community. This year’s exhibition, themed “Transitions: Crossroads & Choices”, will feature 78 artworks in various mediums by inmates.
This year also marks the 15th anniversary of the Yellow Ribbon Project, highlighting the cause’s long-standing dedication in driving acceptance for ex-offenders and encouraging Singaporeans to recognise the importance of community support.
Themed “The Invisible Victims of Incarceration”, a special exhibit highlighting illustrations of the hopes and aspirations of the children of ex-offenders will be up for display at the YR CAE. This exhibit showcases the efforts of the CapitaLand – YRF Children Support Programme, which seeks to support and nurture the development of some 100 children of ex-offenders aged 3-12 years old over a two-year period.
The exhibition is open to the public and admission is free. For more details, visit the Yellow Ribbon Project Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/yellowribbonproj/
