Whenever we plan to do a task, we first evaluate the subject and then plan how to go about it. Every assignment we take up needs planning and strategising to turn it into a well-rounded piece of work. Most of the time, people are given assignments without proper guidance on approaching a subject and creating a unique assignment.

To make a well-developed assignment and improve your writing score, you need to dwell on the subject and present their personal views on the assignment. Their analysis will determine the scoring.

Being true to the topic and relevant is important. It is important that you present your unique ideas rather than copy someone else’s work, which is why you should check your work for plagiarism before turning it in to ensure authenticity.

You can take some steps to create a unique assignment that will land you good scores as well. Let us review some of those:

Research

A well-researched topic will go a long way when developing an assignment. How to research? There are several ways of researching a given topic. With the internet, most of it has become quite easy. Heading to libraries may yield a treasure trove of old papers yet to be digitised. These days, however, most literature and data are available online.

You may have to get access to scholarly notes and databases; there are plenty available without special access online, like JSTOR. Going through other materials will help you get a better understanding of the subject. It will give you different points of view that may differ by letting you experience an alternate standpoint.

Understand the topic

When you go through various materials on the subject, it will naturally help you better understand the topic. Let’s say you were thinking of writing a certain assignment – go through other materials that present opposing views. It’s one way to find more ideas and see if your own opposing views may hold less merit. At this stage, you have the chance to change your stance to improve your argument.

Choose words carefully

Choosing the correct words to describe your argument in an assignment is important and can help you gain marks. There may be similar meanings to different words but know what word would go better with the text. For example, you can use the word effusive or unrestrained. Both could be right, but you may realise the word effusive has a more positive spin depending on context.

Similarly, do not put words just because they are fancy – only use them if they serve the purpose.

The simple and intriguing writing style

Try not to use overly complicated sentences. Keep sentences crisp and sharp so the reader does not get overwhelmed and lost in the meaning. Choose a simple writing style that is easy for a layperson to understand.

Often, when researching, we find some complicated words and styles that we want to incorporate into our assignments but understand that although the idea may be useful to us, the style may not be relevant. To avoid plagiarism, check your work with an easy-to-use plagiarism checker.

Use technical jargons

When you read up on literature, you will see every field has its relevant jargon. Telcos have a different language than the tech development sector. For example, a psychology student may use jargon like penis envy or Freudian complex, etc. Still, unless you belong to the same field, it may be difficult for you to understand.

So when going through writing an assignment, keep in mind your target audience and make it unique.

Divide into short paragraphs

We can get carried away when we write an assignment. We want to add maximum information and pour all of our knowledge into it. However, we should be careful not to make the write-up bulky. To avoid this, focus on diving your work into one paragraph at a time. Ensure that the paragraphs have a flow and link properly to the preceding one.

Proof check and copy editing

When you’re done with your work, you must take a step back and review it. To aim for a higher score and error-free work, proof check your work for minor errors that may have gone unnoticed. Also, check for copy editing and remove any extra words that may not be needed. Copy editing is important, which is why every publisher has special people reviewing celebrated authors’ work.
