An average person needs up to  2,500 calories each day maintain their weight. For weight watchers counting their calories, they would know how that is no easy feat to get their portions of food right! One group of people however have somewhat solved the problem for most of us: They have taken pictures of what 10% of 2,000 calories (aka 200 calories) of various foods would look like.

Using whatever food they had in their pantry, the people of wiseGEEK created food portions of 200 calories, ranging from vegetables to even sugary snacks. Depending on only the calorie count, some items require a whopping 1kg just to hit 200 calories. Times that by 10 to hit the average of 2,000 calories, that would mean a person has to eat at least 10kg of that same item to get their 2,000 calories each day!

1,425g of celery = 200 calories. I’m not sure about you, but I’m not eating 14,250g of these just to hit my 2,000 calories in a day!

588g of Broccoli = 200 calories. Un-un-un-unbelievable…

Unfortunately, while durian is in season now, they have not done a 200 calories version of it. I wonder how much flesh would make a 200 calorie mark…any one care to take a guess?
