Echosmith arrived in Singapore for a one-day concert at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) on the 11th of August, 2015 as part of their first worldwide tour. This visit also marks the band’s first visit to Singapore, which the band describes their time spent here in Singapore as “warm and humid, but also beautiful and clean.”

Formed in 2009 in southern California, the indie-pop band comprises of 4 siblings: Graham, Sydney, Noah, and Jamie Sierota, who grew up playing a variety of musical instruments that ended up inspiring the siblings to complement each other’s musical skills to form a band. The move was supported by their father, producer and songwriter Jeffery David, who aids them by helping to manage the band and travelling with his children when they go on tour.

The band is best-known for their hit song, ‘Cool Kids’, which was their ticket to fame. Ranking #1 on local radio station 987 FM’s charts and #13 on the US Billboard Hot 100, the single’s PV garnered 49 million views on YouTube and sold over 1.1 million copies in the US, which eventually got a Double Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).

When asked on what was their inspiration in writing ‘Cool Kids’, the band members shared that it was inspired by the personal desire to ‘fit in’ with other people, which was a common feeling that the members of the band experienced at some point in time in their lives, along with them wanting to convey the message that one should accept themselves for who they are.

This message of acceptance also extends towards their main goal of their music, as Sydney Sierota, the band’s lead singer, shares: “Our band is all about love. We want people to know that they are loved, and it is also up to them to love others as how they have been loved by others.”
