Halloween Horror Nights at USS

Readers be forewarned : A screamfest not for the faint-hearted

By Laila Humairah

Six zones, plenty of time, and nowhere to run. From a twisted circus, to psychotic lab scientists, to a ghastly haunted house with a local twist that might be too close for comfort, an all round scream fest is guaranteed at the inaugural Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore.

This Halloween, Universal Studios Singapore will set the benchmark for “a ghostly experience”. Boasting six scare labyrinths – Carn-Evil, Vengeance of the Matriarch, Post Apocalyptic Rage, Pestilence, The Void, and The Edge of Darkness & 44 Sins – the daytime park will be transformed into a formidable Hell House. Guests will be in for a truly frightening time when it goes into ultimate lockdown.

Undoubtedly the most highly anticipated scare zone, the “Vengeance of the Matriarch” set took 60 days to build. It has been dubbed “extremely intense” and “not for the faint hearted”. The incorporation of an Asian twist makes it twice as terrifying. As with all other scare zones, Universal Studios were careful to ensure a complete experience by paying attention to the tiniest of details. What is Halloween without a variety of ghouls? Expect blood thirsty mutated zombies, revenge-filled mummies, and demons of the supernatural who are masters at detecting fear. For guests who do manage to survive all six zones, a party is promised at the end to celebrate the spirit of Halloween. Visitors can expect specially created Halloween food items and treats on sale.

This inaugural Halloween event in Singapore is built on 21 years of experience from Universal Studios Florida, and will involve the ideas and expertise of Universal’s creative professionals. With conceptualization that began a year ago and meticulous preparations rolling out since April this year, Universal Studios Singapore assures it will be the event-of-choice this coming Halloween and affirms that guests will not leave disappointed.

Halloween Horror Nights will be held for seven nights over two weekends, from October 21 to October 23, and October 27 to October 30, from 8 pm to 12 midnight on all nights. Selected rides and attractions – Revenge of the Mummy, Battlestar Galactica, and Accelerator – will be opened to public, but guests will be required to upgrade their daytime park admission tickets as Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event.

This Halloween, grab your friends and loved ones and take a trip down to Halloween Horror Nights. To quote the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Who will survive, and what will be left of them?
