Hungry for more murder stories? For part two of Murders in Singapore, we explored one of the most goriest murders of all time. Some of the murder cases are left unresolved and it’s not that the police are busy munching on Krispy Kreme’s donuts, but there are simply no leads. Unless you’re Sherlock Holmes, the chances of you solving this mystery is close to zero, so don’t even try to investigate the matter.

Secret Ingredient (1984)

Curry

If you’re a fan of curry, you might not like it anymore after reading this murder case from 1984. Ayakannu Marithamuthu was known as an unrepentant wife-beater. His wife, Naragatha and her immediate family members, which consist of her three brothers, mother and sister-in-law murdered him. Tired of his violence, the family was determined to put an end to it. On the day of the murder, Ayakannu was to meet with his three brothers-in-law at the Orchard Road Presbyterian Church where Naragatha worked. Ayakannu was beaten to death with an iron rod. To not leave traces of evidence, his body was chopped up into pieces and cooked into curry. The “food” was packed into different plastic bags to be disposed of all over Singapore to lessen the suspicions.

Beheaded (2013)

Kaur

Still an unsolved case, the Singapore Police Force is still investigating the death of Jasvinder Kaur. The murder took place at a coffee shop in Balestier Road, but her headless and handless body, was found in a trash bag, floating in the waterway between McNair Road and St George’s Road. One of the accused is Gursharan Singh, a forklift driver and also a friend of the victim’s husband, Harvinder Singh. The identity of his accomplice(s) is still unknown. Before Ms Kaur’s body was found, her husband had departed from Singapore by taking a bus through Woodlands Checkpoint. He has yet to be found and is currently on the wanted list of Interpol.

We will never fully understand what triggered the murderers to do what they did. Whether they are sentenced to prison or caning, the real question is, will they ever stop these barbaric actions or feel guilty for committing such a crime?
