Shimano, the designer and manufacturer of high quality bicycle components, has recently announced the launch of its experiential and interactive bicycle centre – Shimano Cycling World. This state-of-the-art facility is said to be the first of its kind.

For those of you who may not be too familiar with the company, it was first founded in 1921 back in Japan and set up its first overseas factory in Singapore during 1973.

With the recent opening of the Singapore Sports Hub, Shimano wants to seize this prime opportunity to reach out to the community. Its main agenda is to enrich and develop the local cycling culture and also, to promote cycling as a way of life.

The Shimano Cycling World, measuring 650 sq.m., is not merely a showcase of bicycles.

At the entrance, 16 LCD screens are plastered to the wall, playing videos of various cycling disciplines. On the opposite side is an entire library of cycling related books and products, together with a touchscreen monitor – Cycling Singapore – where cycling enthusiasts can gain updates on weather; air quality; traffic conditions and also the various locations of bicycle shops and park connectors. As you venture further inwards, you will find yourself surrounded by interactive displays of cycling components and a vast collection of bicycles through the era.

Shimano Cycling World is not merely a place for the cycling enthusiasts but also for the thousands of you out there who would like to rediscover the nostalgia of cycling.
