Sungha Jung Live in Singapore

For the sixth year consecutively, Sungha Jung will be returning to Singapore for a one-night only show on the 28 May which will be part of his 2016 World Tour. To be held at the Kallang Theatre, it will be one night of guitar music, featuring hit songs from Singaporean artistes such as JJ Lin, Kit Chan, Stefanie Sun and Tanya Chua.

The Asia’s top guitar virtuoso will also be releasing his sixth solo album, and for this upcoming concert, he will also be supported by Singapore’s very own guitar talent, Neil Chan. A combination of solo and duet guitar music, the set list will include originals and crowd favourites too. The concert will also be opened by the winner of the Sungha Jung Guitar Competition, which will be held a day before the concert.

With the purpose of increasing awareness and hoping to encourage more participation in fingerstyle guitar, the triennial competition took place previously in 2013 in Singapore and saw world class guitarists from Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia gracing the finals of the competition. This year, the panel of judges will include Sungha Jung, Nei Chan and Sprout Entertainment Director Hong Mun and the winner will stand to win an autographed guitar too.

For his concert last year, in celebration of SG50, Sungha re-arranged and performed Kit Chan’s Home and Stefanie Sun’s We will Get There. At present, his Youtube cover of Kit Chan’s Home is one of the most-viewed instrumental version, having seen by over 360,000 viewers.

Entries for the competition are currently open, and tickets for the concert are on sale from $46 here. For more information about the competition, head on over to their facebook.
