5 Traits of a Mass Comm student

Our schooling days have us meeting all sorts of students from different faculties. Over the course of time, we begin to form a certain impression of certain ‘types’ of students and their behaviors are usually related to their majors. We have come up with some student profiles – this time, we feature the “mass comm student”. Do you or someone you know fit this profile?

The Mass Comm

You dress to impress but more so to feel confident. You’re admired among your circle of non-media major friends for your eloquent manner of speaking and opinions on current affairs. Your tendency to spark discussions and gather opinions on what’s new often have your friends cracking their heads. Here are 5 traits of a typical ‘mass comm’ student:

  1. You’ve yet to figure out what you plan on doing with your life… that aside, you are a lot of fun at parties, because let’s be honest, that 3,000 word essay is only being written the night before.
  2. You have become the glorified movie critic amongst your friends. Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, they got nothing on you. Hell, you find everything wrong with…
  3. Not everyone in your class was normal, but then again isn’t it boring to be normal these days?

  4. Mornings are generally not your forte, and any class before 9am can be considered a write-off. To be fair, you were probably at that party last night, you know… that one you said you wouldn’t go to?
  5. Studying communications has created a thirst for the latest new. What type of news? It doesn’t matter, you love all news. Twitter, Reddit, BBC, TechCrunch, if something happens you’ll be the first to know.
