Upcoming movies – there’s more than just comic materials!

The list of upcoming movies can be said to be one that is filled with countless movies from comics – from Batman vs Superman, to Captain America: The Civil War, even classics such as Ghostbusters are back. What are some movies that aren’t of comic origin that may be worth a watch? We bring to you a list which might interest you!

Horror
For some odd reasons, we all love horror. No matter what kind of horror, there’s bound to be something that will satisfy our curiosity. Here are some possibly worthy horror movies for your consideration for the upcoming year:

The Faith of Anna Waters (March 03)

Based on a factual story (or so they claim), it features Singapore as the story backdrop and guess which place is featured (even in the trailer)? We won’t bog you down with too much details – just watch the trailer yourself!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (February 11)

Throw away your knowledge of the classic literature book of Pride and Prejudice because what you see here is most definitely different from what you know. Added with the pop culture favourite of zombies, we are sure the movie will be a interesting watch – at least for not literature students.

The Conjuring 2 (June 09)

More spooks follow in this sequel movie, only this time it is set in England, where something sinister is suspected to be festering at a council house in the London Borough of Enfield.

Sadako vs Kayako (June 23)

Two of Japanese top horror ghosts are at it – this time battling out with each other to see who’s the scariest of them all. One can only wonder where this is going really…

For the kid in you
At times, we just want something slightly light-hearted, or even to relive a little of our childhood, so what better way then to catch one of the followings:

The BFG
Remember the times where Roald Dahl books used to be our source of entertainment? Now, here’s the movie for the book of the same name.

Alice in Wonderland – Through the Looking Glass
The sequel to Alice in Wonderland, Alice is back again this time to save the Hatter by turning back the hands of time. Whimsical and kooky, as true to Tim Burton’s style as ever, we are sure this would be a worthy movie to catch. While we say this is for the kid in you, it might be a little too dark for kids…

Finding Dory (June 16)
Set a year after “Finding Nemo”, ironically, this sequel took as long as 10 years in the making to come to fruition. For now, we can only hope that the audience won’t be left having to find something for as long as 10 years after this movie though.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (November 17)

From J.K.Rowling and set 70 years before Harry Potter, here’s the process of how the book by Newt Scamander came about.

Game adaptations
Based off some of the hottest hits, these movies bring to life some of the best there are – minus the need for anyone to watch the action by playing them!

Angry Birds the Movie (May 12)

Remember the days where you used to launch these birds at the green pigs? Yeah, they are back again, after dropping out from the spotlight for years with their movie (finally).

Warcraft: The Beginning (June 09)

The ever popular title (although in recent years it has been slightly upstaged by League of Legends), the Warcraft movie has been something that fans have waited for for a long enough time, staying true to the storyline based on the history of the characters – or at least, we hope they do.

Assassin Creed (December 22)

A tale about a descendant of the Assassins, it’s not quite what you get in the games, but we do hope the actions and cinematography for this serve justice for the original game (and for all the parkour videos that are out there!)
