Held weekly at Blu Jaz Cafe on Bali Lane, Fight Comic, produced by The Comedy Pimp Singapore, stars the best comedians in Singapore in eight rounds of improvised, uncensored stand up comedy, all fighting to win the “Fist of Funny”. Inspired by shows like Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, the mostly non-local comedians give the audiences a fresh look at all things Singapore.

There were several rounds starting with ‘My News of the Week’, where each contestant had to act as a comic news reader reading news he/she had heard for the first time. Followed by ‘Top 10’, which again had 3 parts to it and the contestants had to spurn witty comments pertaining to those themes. What kept the laughter going were the topics chosen for this round like Korea’s new toilet theme park, PRCs in Singapore, some royal dirty talk between Kate and Williams, RWS Dolphins, SDN Dating Scheme and Asian game-shows. Aptly named ‘I Am So Angry I Am Going To Post a Picture On Stomp!’, the next round brought out the creativity of the contestants with wacky pictures.  Playing well on the pun, ‘Mass Debate’ was the following round, where contestants argued both sides of the motion in the house, “Singaporean laws aren’t tough enough.” With ‘F*ck the News’, the contestants discussed current affairs with an over current of humor in it.

The competition engaged its audience really well by asking for miscellaneous inputs for the second half of the show. With each subsequent round, one contestant was eliminated making the fight more competitive. In another round called “Ask the Experts”, audiences get the answers to mind-boggling questions like “How do I use the toilet paper?” and “What is the meaning of life?” Another interesting twist was the ‘Heckler’ round, where the contestants spoke about anything under the sun rebutted by rapid ‘heckles’ that were again a contribution from the audience. For the final round, ‘Set from Hell’, the contestants had to weave a tale out of the random list of objects and phrases, suggested by the audience.

Entry costs $10 a person in return for two laughter filled hours starting from 9pm every Thursday, hosted by past contestants of this competition.
